Welcome to the BigPark project!
This is a research project led by the Center for Advanced Studies of Blanes (CEAB, CSIC). We study the biodiversity of marine littoral communities in Marine National Parks . The project continues the monitoring and study of selected benthic communities using genetic, ecological and environmental techniques.
We are studying:
- The evolution of invasive seaweeds in benthic communities, their effects, and their correlations with environmental factors.
- Hard bottom benthic communities affected by algae invasions using genetic monitoring techniques.
- Seagrass bed communities of Posidonia oceanica and the effects that big storms cause on these communities and their ecosystem functions.
